With 27 years of service to Lovejoy ISD, Rich Hickman has:

 

·         Listened to community input concerning improvement of elementary programs, building of new campuses, designing of our secondary curriculum.

 

·         Provided balanced leadership through times of challenge and change.

 

·         Helped to establish LISD as one of only twenty seven exemplary school districts out of 1031 in Texas.

 

·         Participated in hiring Ted Moore, current LISD Superintendent.

 

·         Attended more LISD meetings and functions than anyone else on the planet.

 

·         Spoken up for sound policies even when his views were unpopular.

 

·         Been certified as a "Master School Board Trustee" and taught classes for less experienced board members statewide.

 

·         Seen the district through the decision to build its own secondary program and subsequent transition of LISD students from Allen ISD.

 

·         Overseen the passage of bonds to provide for growth.

 

  • Promoted fiscal responsibility resulting in:  1) Consistently Superior rating on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas  2) Clean and Unqualified audit  

3) Increased bond ratings with both Moody’s and Standard & Poors  

4)Two years of secondary transition without utilizing the designated fund

balance set aside for transition.

 

·         Faithfully attended training throughout the years to stay up-to-date on legislative policy changes affecting public schools.

 

·         Volunteered for 4H and Special Olympics
